Ricardo Montalbán Repertory Theatre Company (RMRTC) is
a new branch of the Ricardo Montalbán Foundation. Founded
by Nosotros’ 1st Vice President, Felipe Alejandro and member David
Llauger-Meiselman, under the auspices of Artistic Director Margarita Cannon
and foundation board member Gil Smith, RMRTC is dedicated to the American Latino
experience.
What began as the Nosotros American Latino Theatre (NALT) with the critically acclaimed Transformations, a
production written, produced, directed, and performed by our members for
the 2006 season, has now evolved into a resident theatre company (RMRTC). Our
inaugural season opens with Love, Lies, and Revolution a
production comprised of two one- acts, The Wafer by
Arthur Meiselman, and Red Colombian Sky by Katrina
Elias. This mixture of new and established playwrights exemplifies
our commitment to daring and challenging works and the development of Latino
talent.
The 2007 season marks a very exciting year for RMRTC. We are looking forward to our new line-up that includes an original production of Piri Thomas’ Seven Long Times, author of the award winning Down These Mean Streets. Also slated for production, Virgin Love by Tim Groff, Oh, Mother Yemaya by Erik Llauger, and the 2007 Christmas Show (TBA). RMRTC will also be continuing its Monday Night Writers-Actors-Directors Workshop to provide opportunity for burgeoning writers.
Ricardo Montalbán Repertory Theatre Company will fulfill a part of Ricardo Montalbán’s dream… by providing opportunities for Latinos in all aspects of theatrical entertainment.
